March Shire Meeting

  • Officer Report (Exchequer): Dona Mora reports the annual report is complete. If you have outstanding receipts from Filthy Dirty Collegium, turn those in ASAP so we can close the books on that event.
  • Officer Report (Chatelaine): The Honorable Lord Todde informed us that the French Festival is under new management, so we’re not yet in touch with the right person to do a demo. The requested demo at Santa Barbara Junior High Renaisssance Fair is probably no, as it’s the Friday of Potrero, but he’ll ask again we get closer.
  • Officer Report (Gold Key/Quartermaster): Next Tuesday, March 10, will be Shelf Buying Day. If you can help out, please meet Constanza at 6:30PM at the CostCo entrance.
  • Officer Report (Webwright): Lord Magnus says we still have a website. The Shire Champions page is up, and the FDC 2014 event page has been archived.
  • Officer Report (Arts & Sciences): Lady Gwen reminded us that in February, Lord Paul taught a flag design class, in preparation for the flag painting workshop coming up on March 22nd. (The silk for that should arrive this week.) The Santa Barbara Museum of Art has a new Renaissance painting exhibit; do we want to want to arrange a trip? In early April there will be a cheesemaking class. On Tuesday, March 24th, Mora will teach her “interacting with royals” class, in anticipation of a need to do just that. June 6th is Coronation; Gwen is organizing largesse for that. If you are interested in making largesse to present at Coronation or at King’s Hunt, let her know. Finally, just after the meeting (and online), there will be an “Arts & Sciences in Isles” brainstorming activity.
  • Isles Anniversary is on November 21st, 2015. Paul will repeat as Event Steward with Lady Hette as his Deputy. If you have ideas for what we should do, talk to them. There was discussion of possibly doing a camping event.
  • Isles will be hosting Festival of the Rose on January 30th, 2016, in conjunction with next year’s Filthy Dirty Collegium. (We might want to consider rebranding…)  If you are interested in being the Event Steward(s), talk with Lady Delphine.
  • If people are interested in a monthly dance practice on a Sunday (like April 12th), reply to the email that Delphine is going to send out.
  • Lian will follow up with Countess Albra about doing a demo at the Ventura Comic-Con Demo with Darach, August 28-30th.
  • Paul’s Crown Challenge closes on March 28th. Eleven people have qualified so far.
