January Shire Meeting

  • Officer Report (Exchequer): Dona Mora reports that our year-end balance was currently $3973.86; with total income of $1815.13 and expenses of $579.40. (There are still around $250 worth of expenses for Isles Anniversary outstanding.) We have submitted Q3 cumulative report, so we are all up to date. We are going to set up Lodovico as an Emergency Deputy, but Mora will keep the job.
  • Officer Report (Chronicler): Lord Paul is in the process of handing job over to Lady Hette. He will ping the new Kingdom Chronchiler, Lady A’isha, again.
  • Officer Report (Webwright): Lord Magnus has created the shell for the Filthy Dirty Collegium event page and will add scheduling details as they come to him. He will also add the current Shire champions and work on figuring out the past ones.  If you are a past champion or know some of them, please contact him.
  • Officer Report (Gold Key/Quartermaster): We put off installing the shelves because of rain; Constanza will reschedule that. We have a bin of loaner garb that needs mending, and it will make appearances at Craft Nights for said mending.
  • Officer Report (Arts & Sciences): Lady Gwen reports that several members of the Shire visited the Hollywood Costume exhibit in LA before Angels/Altavia Yule. There was a dance class last weekend taught by the Honorable Lady Meala. FDC is coming; see below. In early February, Paul will teach a heraldic flag design class, in preparation for Rebecca’s flag painting class in March. The Caid Arts & Sciences Fair and Pentathlon entry postmark date is January 15th. (Composition and persona entries need to be in then too.) Festival of the Rose is February 21st in Angels (Monrovia). Gwen will also be talking with people after FDC to check on the status of A&S in Isles. Finally, there is nascent brewer’s guild, meeting monthly at Craft Night the week after the business meeting; talk to chief ringleader Paul if you are interested.
  • Officer Report (Chatelaine): The Honorable Lord Todde will print slightly fewer posters for FDC than he did for Isle Anniversary.
  • The Shire’s armored fighter practice schedule may be changing. Stand by.
  • Kingdom event bids for 2016 were discussed. We will be hosting Spring Festival of the Rose in 2016 (which was actually a 2015 bid). We will bid for Fall Crown, and if we have to, we’ll bid for 12th Night Coronation.
  • Lady Eleonora is looking for volunteers for Filthy Dirty Collegium, so watch the list. There will be a potluck optional feast: enough simple things will be provided so that people don’t have to bring food if they can’t/don’t want to.
  • The long saga of becoming a UCSB Office of Student Life organization is almost over. We are paid up and have sent in signatures. Lodovico will attend the OrgSync training next week, then we’ll be all official.
  • Continuing our discussion from last month, Todde will talk to Steve at the French Festival to see if we can do a demo.
  • Five people have completed Paul’s challenge. You have until March 28th to qualify for the prize by having a registered (or in submission) name and device, being a currently paid member, and attending five events.
  • We continue to work on regalia for our champions. Hette will work on bardic; Paul will talk with Lord Philip about thrown weapons.
