November Shire Meeting

  • Officer Report (Exchequer): Dona Mora assures us we still have money. The Isles Thrown Weapons Champion regalia (~$30) will be included in Isles Anniversary expenses.
  • Officer Report (Chronicler): Lord Paul will be stepping up as Crescent Principal Herald and stepping down as Shire Chronicler, so we need a replacement. Lady Hette is possibly interested.
  • Officer Report (Webwright): Lord Magnus asks if he should replace the Chronicler info on the website? (Probably.)
  • Officer Report (Gold Key/Quartermaster): Constanza reports that a new shelf is about to be purchased; an email will be be sent out to figure out when that will happen. Tuesday the 18th will be loaner garb sorting.
  • Officer Report (Chatelaine): The Honorable Lord Todde has not moved forward on business cards; he will be talking with Philip and/or Medb on that front. He will be uploading the corrected info brochure to the website.
  • Officer Report (Arts & Sciences): Lady Gwen is happy that little flags got painted! They still need to be steamed but should be done in time for Anniversary. There will be a dance class sometime in November, taught by Lady Delphine, to prepare for Yule season. Gwen is investigating other classes for the winter. Gwen will send out an email about the possibility of a flag painting workshop the weekend of March 21st and she will talk to Cormac about getting him to come up and teach his design class before that. Also: Thanks to everyone who donated to 4D and largesse for Their Majesties.
  • Craft Night probably needs to move in December, due to impending baby. If it ends up rotating, we’ll make sure to update the calendar. We’ll work it out on the mailing list.
  • Paul’s Challenge is still open. If you are a paid member, have a registered/submitted name and device, and have attended five events since the last Crown Tournament, send him an email to claim your prize. If you haven’t yet qualified, you have until March 28th to do so.
  • The Isles Archery Range Project is moving forward. Lord Lodovico found out more about insurance, but he needs to hear back from Ian about what the rabbi wants. Stay tuned to see what we need to do. Calafia has some butts they want to get rid of, but we’re going to hold off until we know what the Chabad has.
  • Lodovico is still working on getting us set up as a UCSB OSL group. We can renew our OSL membership at any time. We need three officers, all of which have to be either student, staff, or faculty, plus a staff or faculty advisor (Lodovico). Then we pay $40 and we’re good. Lodovico will make this happen. Lodovico will be OSL person for life.
  • Filthy Dirty Collegium is January 31st. Gwen is willing to be Scheduling Regent and doesn’t want to be Event Steward or deal with finding the site. Lodovico is willing to help get the site. If Delphine doesn’t have a volunteer to be Event Steward by late November, she will do it. The ad is due to the Crown Prints by December 1st.
  • We are investing running Demo/Newcomers Event focused on recruiting. We’ll be looking at doing it sometime in 2015. If we have a critical mass of families with kids coming to FDC, Gwen will try to arrange for a set of Youth Classes. We should encourage people to stop by Isles Anniversary.
  • Isles Anniversary is almost here. If you haven’t yet volunteered to do something, talk to Paul.

Last Week

Coronation and Queen’s Champion were last weekend in Gyldenholt. Thank you to everyone who donated largesse for Their Majesties.

This Week

Calafia Anniversary is Saturday in San Diego. Is anyone from the Shire going?

Further Away & Other Bits

Isles Anniversary is on Saturday, November 15th at Stow Grove Park (but you knew that already, right?).

The Shire has a Facebook Group, for those who are so inclined to discuss things there.
