April Shire Meeting

  • Officer Report – Seneschal: Lord Lodovico is planning on stepping down as Seneschal and handing the reins over to Lady Delphine. Delphine will be passing the Exchequer hat back to The Honorable Lady Mora. This transition will hopefully be complete by next month.
  • Officer Report – Webwright: Lord Magnus now really has access to the website. Please send website improvement suggestions to him.
  • Officer Report – Quartermaster: Shed cleanup has been moved to early May, due to lack of urgency. (Graham isn’t moving.) If you need anything for King’s Hunt, let Magnus know ASAP.
  • Officer Report – Chatelaine: Loaner garb is being distributed to people for King’s Hunt. Also: We had talked months ago about being part of the Santa Barbara Solstice Parade. The theme is “Games”; we should do it.
  • Officer Report – Arts & Sciences: “Songs Around the Campfire” class was fun. If you have printed copies of any of those songs, please bring them to King’s Hunt. Collegium Caidis was last month; if you took something that you want to share, talk to Lady Gwen. Possible classes for April include Roman garb for Agrippa and Bridget’s upcoming reign (probably on a weekend) and “Pentathlon and How It Works.” There will be classes at King’s Hunt; take them.
  • Officer Report – Exchequer: We have money. Also: come to King’s Hunt because it’s the outgoing Exchequer’s birthday.
  • Starting in May, business meetings will be held at Todde & Mora’s at 6:30 pm with Rusty’s as backup location in case of plague.
  • Isles Anniversary is coming in November. Is anyone interested in being an Event Steward?
  • We’re going to make a push to have more bardic classes at Filthy Dirty Collegium next year, due to pent-up demand.
  • Lodovico will be bringing the Blob to King’s Hunt, along with some Isles tablecloths for feast.
  • The Wake Center apparently has a location we might be able to use for archery. We would need to bring our own targets. Lodovico will investigate that further, as well as following up with Shimon about Chabad.
  • Mora is going to see if she can get Linda’s friend who sharpens knives to come to a Craft Night and offer his services (for money).

This Week

King’s Hunt, hosted by the Shire of Carreg Wen, is this weekend at Live Oak Campground. It’s a great event that’s just twenty minutes from us, so everyone is encouraged to attend (even if just for the day on Saturday). If you are planning on going, would like to go, or have questions, please contact Paul. If you would like to attend the feast, make a reservation soon. Their Royal Highnesses Agrippa and Bridget will be in attendance, and the Shire of the Isles is planning on making a presentation; if you would like to contribute something, talk to Paul.

Further Away & Other Bits

Starkhafn Anniversary is coming up the weekend of April 11-13th, near Las Vegas, NV. Is anyone from the Shire (like, perhaps, the Crossbow Champion of Starkhafn) planning on attending.

Barons’ Feast (aka the Gyldenholt Company Picnic) is Sunday, April 13th in Orange, CA. It’s a day full of food, games, and friendly people. Paul and Gwen are planning on attending; talk to them if you’re interested in going.

Upcoming Events near Isles or otherwise of interest:

  • April 4-6 – King’s Hunt (Carreg Wen) –
  • April 27 – Robin Hood Tourney (Angels / Woodley Park) –
  • May 3 – Darach Anniversary (Thousand Oaks, CA) —
  • May 10 – Altavia Anniversary (Sylmar, CA) —
