December Business Meeting

  • Local event bids are now being considered for 2015. Lord Lodovico submitted the shire’s bids along with our kingdom event bids. We may still need to work out Filthy Dirty Collegium in 2015, as we will likely host the “Fall 2015” Festival of the Rose at Filthy Dirty in February of 2016.
  • Shimon knows of local Chabad that has an archery range near Fairview and Cathedral Oaks; Countess Jane is going to ask them about setting up a practice, probably on Sundays. There is also a once-a-month-ish archery practice in Nipomo; join the Barony of Tarnmist Facebook group for announcements.
  • In other archery-related news, Woodley Park no longer allows crossbows, due to restrictive legislation. There are also periodic range cleanup days announced on the Caidan archery list; these will be forwarded to the shire, try to go.
  • The shed discussions continue. The current one is 6′ x 4′. We are looking at on that is 6′ x 8′ or 8′ x 10′. Lord Magnus and Shimon will investigate whether they could host a shed of those sizes.
  • Officer Report – Chatelaine: Yay, newbies!
  • Officer Report – Exchequer: Automotive stickers with the shire populace badge on them are available from Lodovico for $5. Also, if you have still receipts from Anniversary, get them in so we can do the final accounting for the event.
  • Officer Report – Webwright: Still haven’t heard anything from Kingdom Webwright. Contacted Lord Philip Berenger de Greylonde, Altavia Deputy Webwright, about what to do next.
  • Officer Report – Arts & Sciences: December’s class was Jane’s garb planning course; it was well-attended. January will likely include a sign-making workshop, as a number of the shire’s signs have gone missing. A new Pentathlon handbook is coming out soon. The event is only about a year away, start thinking about it. Also, Collegium Caidis is coming in March.
  • Filthy Dirty Collegium is less than a month away, Lady Gwen and Lord Paul, the Event Stewards, are looking for volunteers, especially for Gate.

Last Week

Twelfth Night was held in Calafia, and it was full of music, feasting, and joy. Delphine, Mora, Gwen, and Paul all attended; see them if you have any questions.

This Week

Amazingly, there are no events scheduled in Caid this weekend.

Further Away & Other Bits

Angels Melee Tourney is on Saturday, January 18th, in La Verne, CA, celebrating the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn. A substantial contingent from the Shire will be attending, and we will be bringing the Blob.

Filthy Dirty Collegium will be at UCSB’s College of Creative Studies on February 1st, 2014. Lord Paul fitz Denis and Lady Gwen Hir are the Event Stewards. The class list is almost finalized and should be available soon.

The Shire has a Facebook Group, for those who are so inclined to discuss things there.
